Engish Paper Pieceing (EPP) for Beginners

Have you always wanted to know the fundamentals of EPP? Then this class is for you!

This class is designed to teach you the fundamentals of EPP wile creating a project you can finish in a day.

We are excited to share the knowledge and experience of English Paper Piecing, EPP with Ingrid Slatta.  She has created many projects with this technique. It is a very portable, easy to learn method of sewing bits of fabric together to create unique beautiful creations you will be proud of.

The slow rhythmic process of hand sewing can be a very relaxing time; spent in front of the tv, while waiting in a doctor’s office, at your child’s practice, or my favourite place - in my comfy chair.

Why not join in for a day of learning while you play with fabric and learn this easy-going and fun technique?

We will make a multi-pieced hexagon using three different shapes. If you would like to finish it as the sample, we have included the background, batting and backing fabrics in the class kit.

The following will be demonstrated:

  •          How to prepare plastic templates.
  •          How to prepare fabric for EPP.
  •          How to use the templates and cut out the fabric pieces.
  •          How to glue baste.
  •          How to whipstitch.
  •          How to assemble the prepared pieces.
  •          How to sew the units together.
  •          How to remove the paper-pieces.
  •          How to correctly press the finished hexagon.
  •          How to finish the project as the sample.

The kit fee is in addition to class fee, $20, and is to be paid directly to the instructor on the day of class. Cash only, and correct change is always appreciated. Kits will be handed out in class upon payment.

è We ask that any brand specific materials be purchased from the shop and you do not substitute.
