Free Motion Quilting For Beginners



Succeed at free-motion quilting on your domestic sewing machine.

Starting with the basics, from selecting the best needles and thread, and setting up your machine and workspace for free-motion fun.

Find out how to achieve a consistent stitch length and troubleshoot any issues. Plus, we will guide you through a variety of non-linear and linear designs such as stippling, woodgrain, ribbon candy, swirls/waves and much more!

Master free-motion fundamentals to create beautiful quilt projects that look and feel finished.


Skill Level: Beginner
Skill Details: Beginner (must have sewing experience)
Requirements: You must be able to sew in order to participate in this class. Please bring your sewing machine in GOOD WORKING ORDER and with a fresh needle, 4 - 6 ----> 12inch x 12inch or bigger quilt sandwiches with plain scrap fabric and batting. A quilt sandwich is what quilters call the three layers of a quilt. The 'sandwich' consists of the quilt top, the batting and the backing. Bring thread you already own, we will chat about appropriate thread and provide thread to use if you do not have any. A few empty bobbins. Top Stitch needles if you have them. We will also be talking about needles, so don't worry if you do not have top stitch needles.
